Homeless Ministry
Ncompass started primarily as a homeless ministry serving the community in downtown Portland. Volunteers have delivered lunches and clothing to the homeless once a month, (typically the last Sunday of the month) for the past 4 years. Ncompass has recently been partnering with Grace Chapel, a local church, to help support each others’ ministries. We desire to continue to grow and learn throughout our service, and be able to meet more of the needs of the people we serve. We believe that our service to the homeless is typically more beneficial for the volunteers and ourselves than it is for the long-term well-being of the people we are trying to help. We see it as a duel ministry and are grateful for all they have taught us.
Next Event
Our next delivery will take place under the steel bridge on Sunday August 29th at 2:30pm. We will be delivering 25 backpacks from REI that were bought by Solid Rock and the Cancelosi’s house church. We are very excited about this delivery and would love to have extra hands come out and serve. If you are interested in helping, please contact Joey Jenkins at 503-680-0790 or email at ncompass.jje@gmail.com
Last Event-7-25-10
Our last delivery went very well. We had 15 volunteers and delivered 150 lunches around the city. We were able to deliver 25 brand new backpacks from REI that were purchased by a house church at solid rock. We had many great conversations today and were able to pray for a few of the people we served. One man named Rudy asked us to pray for him against addictions and for safety on the streets. He asked for us to say his name out loud when we pray for him and he had a very open heart. We had wonderful volunteer support and our continually blessed by this ministry.
